A historical Kabirchaura Math is located in the coastal town of Puri in the state of Orissa. It is of historical importance as it is linked directly to the journeys of Kabir Saheb. Puri has a special relationship with Kabir Saheb. It is said that while a Jagdish Mandir was being build in Puri, the waves of the sea would destroy the site and the Mandir could never be finished. By coincidence Kabir Saheb travelled trough the region. The bhaktas of Jagdish pleaded to Kabir Saheb to save them from disaster. “Please O Holy Saint, your divinity is known throughout the entire world. With your blessings the sea can remain calm and we can finish the building of the Mandir. Kabir Saheb heard the plea of the bhaktas and buried his Kubari (supporting stick) on the shores of Puri. Since that day on the waves of the ocean did not move pass the Kubari thus leaving the Mandir site in peace. Eventually the Mandir was erected and till this day is an important place of worship.
