The 9th edition of Bring Your Own Film Festival(BYOFF) is all set to welcome the filmmakers and film-lovers on the sandy beaches of Puri to be held from February 21 to 25 . The Five Day mega event is expected to witness the screening of over 130 films of different genres and durations from over 16 countries.

BYOFF’s uniqueness lies in the approach of the organisers – there is no selections, no jury and no awards for the films screened; anyone who has a film can show it here; there is no hierarchy, no bureaucracy; it would be just the sun, the sand, the sea, cinema and more.

The Films will be screened in makeshift tents on the beaches of put. About 300 delegates are arriving from all parts of country and abroad to celebrate the occasion. Organised in collaboration with INSCREEN, the premier film society of the state bases at Bhubaneswar, the festival has held outside the Pink House Hotel and Restaurant off the Chakrathirtha Road of the temple city.

In BYOFF-2012, one can sing, dance, showcase his paintings, sculptures and photographs, present enactments, discuss ideas, share thoughts and experiences, or just laze around. To screen a film the filmmaker can log on www.byoffpuri.com and register his or her film.

BYOFF was started in 2004 when a bunch of filmmakers thought it would be great to get together somewhere on abeach, away from th city atmosphere and far from the pomp and ceremony of a festival, more than thousands films were screened since then in BYOFF.

Four Lakhs Devotees come to puri, to witnessed the Jagar festival At Shri Lokanath Temple Puri . The most cultural and spiritual event ‘ Mahadipa Darshan ‘ and ‘ Hari Hara Veta ‘ has taken place at that time.

A large number of devotees thronged the Shri Lokanath Temple Puri, for celebrating Shiva Rati Jagar. The Lokanath temple (Puri) is one of the notable place for Shiva Devotees. Shiva Rati Jagar, which refers to the night-long vigil kept by the devotees, especially women, to have their desires fulfilled.

The temple is located on the left bank of river Daya, and situated on the left side of S.E. Railway and about 11 Km. from Motari railway station and on the left side of Khurda-Pattnayikia road. The Hill is locally called Viswanath Mundia.

Somanatha Temple, Birabalabhadrapur, temple is located on the left bank of the river Bhargavi in Birabalabhadrapur sasana which is 2 kms west of the Budhalinga pokhari chowk on Bhubaneswar -Puri road. The temple is 10 kms from Puri township.

Pankaudhar Ekadashi programme has completed at Shri Lokannnath Temple Puri for Shiva Rarti Jagar ( Monday, February 20th, 2012 )

It has been arranged to award citizen’s honour to Sri Harekrushna Satapathy on behalf of Sri Jagannath Sanskrit Surakshya Bahini, Puri, the Council of Cultural Relations, Marichikota Chhak, Puri and different Spiritual and Cultural Organizations of Puri on 16.2.2012 (Thurs day ) evening at 5.30 P.M in the Conference Hall of Collector, Puri.

Sri Harekrushna Satapathy, the great devotee of Lord Sri Jagannath, Research fellow of literature on Sri Jagannath and Vice chancellor of National Sanskrit University, Tirupati has been honour by the Central Sahitya (Literature) Academy Award for 2011. He has been honoured by Her Excellency President of India at New Delhi on 14.2.2012 for his literary work’ Bharatiyanam’.
