Chief Secretary JK Mohapatra on Saturday asked nodal departments to submit quarterly reports on progress of infrastructural development under execution for the famous  of Jagannath temple in Puri.

The Chief Secretary reviewed the road projects connected to Puri and other infrastructures being developed to provide better facility to lakhs of pilgrims likely to visit Ouri during the festival in 2015.

Pipili-Konark, Charichhak-Niali-Phulanakhara, Balighat-Gop, Pipili-Jatni, Chandanpur-Rameswar, Bira Harekrishnapur-Talabania and Bira Harekrishnapur-Rahangiria roads are being widened. Besides, NH-203 is also developed keeping an eye on the festival.

As Railways will play a key role in transport of devotees to Puri, Mohapatra emphasised on timely completion of the doubling of Khurda Road-Puri railway line. The Railways have assured the State Government of taking steps to increase the crowd management limit to 1.5 lakh people. A new bus stand will be constructed at Malatipatapur.

Steps are also taken to strengthen passenger transport system to Puri while buffer parking places will come up on National Highway-203. The meeting also reviewed the measures taken on public health centre, construction of a treatment centre having 100 beds and six-bed ICU in Puri.

Steps have been taken for construction of a 220-KV sub-station in Puri and 132-KV sub-stations on beach and at Konark.
