On the eve of MAHA SHIVARATRI, a very important religious function of Hindus the international renowned Sand Artist Sri Manas Kumar Sahoo has prepared a sand sculpture at the golden sea beach, near light house Puri at the distance of 65 K.M from capital of Odisha Bhubaneswar.
Lord Shiva though describes as the lord of destruction but in fact his actions are always for the peace, happiness of mankind. For the betterment of all, he without any hesitation drank poison which could otherwise destruct the whole world. This aspect of putting oneself to danger for the sake of betterment of others, has inspired the sand artist prepare this sculpture. He aspects that each of us should try for the betterment of the society. Then his own happiness self interest at the cost of others put the society in danger. He has therefore prepared the sand sculpture of Lord Shiva. The sand sculpture is of the height of 5ft by using 10 tons of sand at a labour cost of 8 hours.
