Swami Abhedananda (2 October 1866 – 8 September 1939), born Kaliprasad Chandra was a direct disciple of the 19th century mystic Ramakrishna Paramahansa and the founder of Ramakrishna Vedanta Math. Swami Vivekananda sent him to the West to head the Vedanta Society of New York in 1897, and spread the message of Vedanta.
He was born in north Calcutta on 2 October 1866 and was named Kaliprasad Chandra. His father was Rasiklal Chandra and his mother was Nayantara Devi. In 1884, at the age of 18, while studying for the school final examination under the University of Calcutta, he went to Dakshineswar and met Sri Ramakrishna.
Whether we believe in God or not,whether we have faith in any prophet or not -if we have self-control,concentration,truthfulness,and disinterestedlove for all,then we are no the way to spiritual perfection.
The one essential thing is never to forget that the work done by the mind and body is in reality not performed by the true Self,but by nature.The wise ones realize this and are freed from the attachments which proceed from ignorance.
There are as many ways to Truth as there are individuals who seek it.
Truth is not confined to any particular individual or nation,but it is for everybody.As the sun rises and shines equally upon all nations,even so does the sun of eternal Truth shine and reveal itself among all nations.Whoever will long for such realization will find a way to the attainment of Truth.
Brahman is Truth,and whosoever observes truthfulness and wills to know Truth shall surely attain it.
