In Odisha, the Sun God is being worshiped in many occasions around the year. The Thread worship of Sun God is worshiped as Rabinarayan Ekadashi . When the Ekadashi falls on Sunday, the Thread worship of Sun God is observed . But when Ekadashi in the month of Baisakh ( March – April ) fall on Suday during bright fortnight it is called Biranchi Narayan Ekadashi . Observation of thread ceremony on this Ekadashi gives salvation from all sin and one can achieve property & solvency. It is believed that women aho worship the Sun God on this Ekadashi would remain free from widow-hood during her life. The greatness of this thread observation is written elaborately in the book namely “ Rabinarayan Brat Katha”. By dint of observing the thread ceremony ( Bratta ) one have become immortal and saved a queen and her daughter from disaster. This worship is observed with seven type of flowers, fruit, seven fold of thread and Grass, seven raw rice and berry leves . The ceremony is observed without taking any food except fruits offered to God . Day after this observation, the ceremony is concluded after bath and offering water to the Sun God.
