Sita Navami Brata

🌸 On the Auspicious Occasion of Sita Navami 🌸

Sita Navami is celebrated on the ninth day (Navami) of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Vaishakha. This sacred day marks the divine appearance of Goddess Sita, and devotees observe it with deep devotion and reverence.

In the scriptures, Goddess Sita is described as the Primordial Nature (Mula Prakriti) — the source of creation, preservation, and dissolution. All cosmic activities such as creation, sustenance, and transformation are carried out through her divine energy.

📖 It is mentioned in the Uttara Tapaniya Upanishad:

“Utpattti-sthiti-samhara-karinim sarva-devinam
Sita bhagavati jneyā mūla-prakriti sañjnitā.”

Meaning: Among all goddesses, Sita is to be known as the Supreme Divine Mother — the primordial energy responsible for creation, preservation, and destruction.

Goddess Sita did not take birth in an ordinary human way. She is Ayonija (not born from a womb) and self-manifested (Swayambhu). King Janaka discovered her while ploughing a sacred field during a ritual. She emerged from the Earth itself, and hence she is also known as Bhumija (daughter of the Earth).

📖 As described in the Valmiki Ramayana:

“Atha me kṛṣataḥ kṣetraṁ laṅgalād utthitā tataḥ
kṣetraṁ śodhayatā labdhā nāmnā Sīteti viśrutā.”
(1.66.13)

Meaning: While I was ploughing the field, a girl arose from the furrow of the plough. As she was found in the field, she became known by the name “Sita.”

In Sanskrit, the word “Sita” means a furrow — the line created by a plough. Thus, the self-manifested divine girl was named Sita.

🌺 On this sacred day, devotees offer prayers to Goddess Sita and seek blessings for a pure, peaceful, and prosperous life.
