Mother’s Day is observed the second Sunday in May. It is a time to honor mothers, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers for their contribution to family and society. Mother’s Day originated from mainly two women, Julia Ward Howe and Anna Jarvis. Julia Ward sponsored Mother’s Day each year in Boston around 1870 to promote pacifism and disarmament with women. Mother’s Day is a day for many people to show their appreciation towards mothers and mother figures worldwide. To impress this fact to the people in society the reputed international sand artist Mr. Manas Kumar Sahoo has prepared a sand sculpture on the eve of “Mother’s Day” at the golden sea beach near light house, Puri which is situated at the distance of 65 K.M from Capital of Odisha.
In this sand sculpture he has shown relationship of mother & children and how the children are thanking God for sending mother as a symbol of God. No one can replace God but mother has replaced the place of God for the children by coming to the world. As a mother loves her children without any expectation, children should also do their duty to their mother. This sand sculpture is dedicated to all the mothers of the universe.
This sand sculpture is the length of 15 feet using 20 tons of sand with continuous labour of 8 hours by prepairing this sculpture the artist also wants to give a message “HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY”.
