The 24th Oct will be observed as WORLD POLIO DAY over the world. The International Rotary foundation proclaimed this day as World Polio Day in honor of Rotary International’s work to eradicate Polio.
Today International sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik created a sand sculpture on “World Polio day” to spread awareness among the people at Puri beach, Orissa. The main aim of the sculpture is to aware people about the polio vaccine. So he created a sculpture of a boy holding a placard with a message “END POLIO NOW”, said Pattnaik.
Pattnaik took 4 hours to complete this 5 ft sand sculpture. He used 4 tones of sand in it and the students of his sand art institute also joins hand with him.
The Rotary club of Sri Jagannath Dham, Puri organizes this awareness campaign for World Polio day. This time we thought to spread awareness about Polio through sand sculpture which is an unique way by Sudarsan Pattnaik said Rotarian N .R Mishra President of Rotary club of Sri Jagannath Dham, Puri. Lot of children and Rotarians gathered at Puri beach on this occasion. Sudarsan is one of the Rotary member of this club.
Sudarsan is the brand ambassador of NALCO. So far he has participated in more than 47 international sand sculpture championships and festivals around the World and won many prizes for our country.
