In Hindu Mythology Lord Vishwakarma or Biswakarma is known as the lord of Architecture and 
Engineering. It is the belief that Lord Biswakarma is the architect of Devata and Lord Maya is the architect of Danav .” In Odisha Biswakarma Puja or Vishwakarma Puja is celebrated hugely in Industry mainly . Yes the puja is also celebrated at other part of the country, the towns of West Bengal, Tripura, Asam and some other Eastern and Northern states.
As Hindu Mythology, Biswakarma has created many weapons, buildings and missile, he has created ‘Bajra’, weapons of Lord Indra . He has also associates for the creations of the whole universe, heaven and all lokas. He is also called the divine carpenter and is mentioned in the Rigveda and is credited with Sthapatya Veda, the science of mechanics and architecture. Artisans, craftsmen, mechanics, smiths, welders, industrial workers, factory workers and workers of all kind worship Lord Biswakarma on this day and pray for a better future, safe working conditions and above all success in their respective fields. Workers also pray for the smooth functioning of various machines.
He is also the chief architect and builder of Lanka, Dwarka and Yampuri. His daughter Sanjana was married to Surya (Sun-God). Mythology says that it was Biswakarma who crafted the entire universe, and that is why he is regarded as the supreme worker, the very essence of excellence and quality in craftsmanship. He revealed the sciences of industry to man and is the patron deity of all those who are engaged in productive enterprises.
In Biswakarma Puja, all the machineries,equipment’s and tools are kept aside and worshiped, lord is offered ‘ Naivedya ‘ and after the puja ’ Naivedya’ is distributed as ‘ Prasad’.
