Bedi Hanuman Temple

Daria Mahavir - Bedi Hanuman

Bedi Hanuman Temple, popularly known as Daria Mahavir, is located on the left side of Chakratirtha Road, along the route from Subash Bose Chowk to Penthakata in Puri. This living temple enshrines a two-armed image of Lord Hanuman, who holds a laddu in his left hand and a mace (gada) in his right hand.

The temple’s architectural niches are adorned with significant parsvadevatas. The western raha niche houses the image of Anjana Devi holding a baby Hanuman in her lap, depicted seated in Lalitasana on a lotus pedestal and crowned with a karandamukuta. The northern niche contains a female divinity seated on a decorated pedestal, while the southern niche enshrines the image of Lord Ganesha.

Bedi Hanuman, as Daria Mahavir, is deeply revered by devotees. The major festivals celebrated here include Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti, the latter coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Mahavisubha Sankranti.
