Artists from Pancham Veda Drama Institute of Bhubaneswar presented the devotional drama ‘Bhakta Karmabai’ on the second day of 8th State Level Drama Festival Rangasala 2015 Puri.

‘Bhakta Karmabai’ depicts the bond between a devotee named Karamabai and Lord Jagannath. Karmabai became a widow at a young age and her in-laws started torturing her. Tired of torture, she leaves home and goes to Puri where she starts worshipping Lord Jagannath. One day the Lord himself comes in the disguise of a boy to eat Khechudi (sweet rice) made by her. The sweet dish is offered to the deity at the Puri Jagannath temple till today.

The drama is directed by Dhiren Praharaj, Prakash Maharana and Haren Sahu. Rangasala 2015 festival which started on March 22 will conclude on March 27 2015.
